Clear award for Marketing Excellence

Ben Crump was victorious in The Gloucestershire University / Clear’ competition this year winning the Clear trophy, a cash prize of £100 and two week’s work experience at Clear. The runner up was Emily Mason who won a cash prize of £50.

The competition was set up in 2008 to cement the cooperation between Tetbury based Clear and the Department of Marketing and Strategy at the University’s of Business School at The Park in Cheltenham.

The students, who are reading for a degree in Marketing, Advertising and Communications, were asked to write a paper evaluating a PR campaign and its contribution to the credibility of public relations as an effective communications tool. The papers were judged by a joint panel from the University and the Agency.

Commenting on the competition Dr Janine Dermody, the course designer, said “We are delighted to be working with Clear in this way, it gives us access to a real environment and allows our students to find out more about life in the real world. This is the second year we have run the competition and already last year’s winner believes that it helped him gain a first rate placement for his year in the industry which is part of the course.”

Mark Clare, Director at Clear Ltd, added “Working with the University gives us a good insight into what these students are studying and the high standards of the course graduates.
